Nurse Practice Act

The Nurse Practice Act is in place to protect the health and safety of the public by setting minimum standards for licensure and practice in Arizona. It defines the qualifications and scope of practice for nurses in Arizona.

The Nurse Practice Act is comprised of both statutes (Arizona Revised Statutes) and rules (Arizona Administrative Code),

The Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S) are the statutory laws in the state of Arizona passed by the Arizona Legislature.

The Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) is where the official rules of the State of Arizona are published.
The Code is the official collection of rules that govern state agencies, boards, and commissions.

The Nurse Practice Act Test was developed by the AZBN Education Team from the NPA statutes and rules. It consists of 50 multiple-choice items covering areas considered essential to safe nursing practice in Arizona; the disciplinary process, professionalism, scope of practice, delegation, and board responsibilities.
